Meet the New Co-Presidents & Lead Team!

Monday, June 8, 2026

The New Lead Team for 2026-7 has been officially elected. In this piece, we asked the two Co-Presidents what 2026-7 has in store. Ronja Schürch & Sophie Becker answer some questions.

Ronja Schürch (3rd from right, top row) studies Biodiversity Bachelors at UZH. And Sophie Becker (3rd from left, top row) studies Material Science Bachelors at ETH. They have been part of the NHWZ (Sustainability Week Zurich) since 2025 and are now taking the association forward as Co-Presidents for the upcoming year.

We asked them 4 questions each.

Ronja Schürch:

How do you feel about being Co-President?

I feel very excited to take up this new role after already organising the Sustainability Week Zurich and being in the association. I'm looking forward to working together with Sophie, also Co-President and of course with everyone else in the Lead Team!

What do we have in store for 2026-7?

We want to focus more on working together with our partners and coordinate with them, to reach an even more diverse audience. We will also organise cool year-round events and make sure that there will be another Sustainability Week Zurich!

What are you looking forward to the most?

The weekend we spend together in Fällanden happening in October where people who are interested NHWZ will join us. Last year we had a a lot of fun, I met interesting people and we also started organising events and the frame of the week.

What did you learn so far by being in the association?

You can, you should and you have to rely on others, especially when they're part of such an amazing team! It was great to see, what we're capable to do together with all the volunteers, event organisers, interested audience and of course the help of the universities.

Watch this space for Sophie's answers which will be updated soon.

Along with Ronja and Sophie, we also have 8 new members who have been elected from various universities in Zurich at the General Assembly on 27 May 2026. For more information and full Annual Report and our previous Lead Team pictures going back to 2013, visit our About Page
